  4. In The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant, the conflict is when the narroator is out in the river with the girl he likes and he has to choose between the huge bass and Shelia Mant. He wants the bass really bad but throws it back. Shelia uses him just so he will take her to the party so she can meet this guy that she like and ends up going home with him. The protagonist is the narroator and the antogonist is Shelia Mant.

  13. In the story the boy is the protagonist and Shelia Mant is the antagonist. The boy liked Shelia he takes her to the fair and on the way he caught a big fish and he has to decide whether to cut the line or catch it. That is the conflict of the passage. The climax is whenever he sees how big the fish is and he has to make his decision. "Chris Craig"

  34. The conflict of the story is that the boy, deeply in love with a girl he has never even talked to, is on the same boat/canoe and he has the a gigantic fish on his fishing line. Wanting to not make a fool of his self he cuts the line. They go to the concert and after the girl goes home with another guy. The boy is crushed, so he decides that if a fish get in the way of a girl again he is just going to dumb the girl and go for the fish. The boy was obviously the protagonist and the deeply self absorbed Sheila mont was the antagonist, leaving a nice boy who cuts the fishing line that had the biggest fish ever hooked onto it so she wouldnt freak out!

  44. The little boy liked this girl, Shelia Mants, very well. Shelia and the boy were heading to a concert in a canoe, the boy loves fishing. Shelia tells the boy, " Fishing is nasty, I hate fishing".! The boy realized a fish was hooked, and he didnt want to lose it.. He did everything he can to keep it from Shelia so he cut the line. He was upset even mor when Shelia left him for another guy at the party.

  45. The protagonist is the boy, whereas the antagonist is the girl, Sheila Mant. The conflict in the story for the boy is the fish, which comes up unexpectedly while he is riding the canoe with the girl of his dreams. The climax that rose up is when he has the fish on the line and Sheila says she hates fishing, that she thinks it is boring. He cuts the line for her, never telling her that he had a fish in the first place, but then they get to the concert and she leaves with another guy. It was obvious that she did not care for him, and he lost the biggest fish he would have ever caught.

  48. well to start off the protagonist is the one that is good and the antagonist is the one that is bad so i think that the young boy was the protagionist and sheila is the antagonist because all he ever tried to do was get with her and make things good between them....so when he finally got the chance he was going to take her to a concert by canoe and that turned out ok until sheila was saying something about her not liking fisherman and at the time he had a fishing pole in the water and a fish was grabbing ahold of the hook and he was trying to hide it..and then the get going on down the stream and they get to the concert and sheila ditches the young boy for another guy there at the concert...

When he got the chance he was going to take her to a concert by canoe and that turned out ok until sheila was saything somethins about her not likeine fisherman and at the time the young boy had a fishing pole in the water and a fish was grabbing ahold of the hook and he was trying to hide the pole from sheila and then they finally get to the concert and sheila leaves the young boy for another guy there at the concert and the young boy lefted and went home.i think that he was better off with out her because she was older than he was and when a girl is older than a guy it kinda just dont work out all that well i think.

  55. The conflict was that the boy really liked Sheila and he had a really big crush on her. He aked her on a date to go to see a band that was playing in town, and she said yes. The boy picks her up in a canoe and on the way he catches a really big fish and the boy knows that she does'nt like fish so he tries to hide the pole. He knows that this was the biggest fish he has ever caught. So right before they get to the town he cuts the line. This was the climax of the story. When they get to the town Sheila leaves him for another guy. Now he really regrets cutting the line. The antagonist was Sheila and the protagonist was the boy.

  57. The protagonist in the story was the boy, and the antagonist in the story was the girl. It started out the boy wanted to take the girl into town to see a band play music and he had a really big crush on her. So they went to town in a canoe. Well she told him that she didn't like fishing, and right after that his line tightens up and he has a fish. Well he didn't want to look dumb in front of the girl so he hid the pole so that she couldn't see it. Then he had to make a choice whether to go for the fish or the girl. Finally he decides that he is going to go for the girl, and he cuts the line. Well after they go to the band and they are getting ready to go she doesn't even go home with him she goes home with some guy in a sports car. So in the end he lost both the fish and the girl. He should of took the fish and forgot about the girl.

  58. The Protagonist is the boy and the antagonist is Shelia Mantz. The conflict would be that the boy had a thing for shelia and all she really wanted to do was use him in a way to get to the concert. I would say to me the climax would be when he was ready to take her home, and she leaves with another guy, after all the sacrafices he made for her, and as much as he tried to make her happy, and impress her. She just blows her off for some guy with a nice car!
