Included in our text was the short story To Build a Fire and the essay Deep Survival. Write about what you learned as a result of these and our class discussion.
I learned in this story that to survive you most look forward to something, yet it is like that in every living state, no matter what you living through you must have something to live for. Or whats the point in living, there in no point in survival and so in an undesirable state you will not survive.
In the story Deep Survival i learned alot of things about how i would survive if i was stranded in the wild.First of all you have to stay calm when you are in a situation like this. Then you have to think of a plan of what your first move is gonna be. Check out your surroundings and see what you have to work with. You must be willing to take risks. be sure to keep a positive attitude.Reward yourself when completing a task. Jennifer Tolbert
What I learned about the Deep Survival was that we have to stay calm to focus on what we are surviving for. Say if we were on a mountain, then we would have to over think what we want to do to stay calm. Another thing I learned was the most important thing: count your blessings. the reason why i say that is because if we weren't alive, then we wouldn't even be here to help other people. And the last thing I learned is: percieve, believe. That's another thing I'd like to talk about. if you want to succeed, then you got to believe. Hollie Maddox
I learned to stay calm when in horrible situations. I also learned to try to keep your mind off of the situation your in. In order to do that you can sing songs, think of your family or loved ones, or even count numbers. When you get out of your situation make sure that you celebrate your success. In doing that you know that you can do anything. Elizabeth Schamel
i learned that if you live for something life wil be eaiser. and there is a lot to know on how to surviveon your own. living for nothing is like not living at all.

In the story "DEEP SURVIVAL" i learned that you do have a reason to freak out when in this situation but also that if you do freak out it is only going to make matters worst for you. The more you believe in yourself and believe that you can get out of this situation the more chance you have of surviving. You should always be prepared for when a disaster like a plane crash will happen. You may not always have *TOOLS* to help you out, so when you are going to get on a plane or a situation like that pack odd things because you never know if you will need this in the future. The most important thing though is to stay postive and don't freak out. _Megan Pickett<3
in this story "DEEP SURVIVAL" i have learned a lot of differnet things you could do while you are stranded or lost in woods! but you should always stay calm dont freak out and worry to much!you think negatives because when you do the worsts things happen when you think postive the good things will happen! so always stay calm and dont worry!! ♥~Aerial Gibson~♥
I learned to never panic in a horrible situation. When you panic it only makes the situation worse. And just don't think about the situation just think about your family, freinds, sing a song or just count. But remember to always be prepared for a horrible situtaion and always keep a survival kit around. The most important thing to remeber if you are in a horrible situation is to stay calm and think about your family and friends. Rebecca Drake =)
i learned that survival isn't that hard to do as long as you know how to do it....and there are many different types of things to do to survive because you have to know what to eat that wont kill you, how to start a fire, and how to find fresh water...
I learned that you have to play mind games and talk to youself in order to stay sane. If you don't keep your mind working panic will set in and you'll die faster. A six inch hand mirror can be used to flag down an airplane. ~♥Danielle Pieros♥`
i learned that survival isn't that hard to do as long as you know how to do it....and there are many different types of things to do to survive because you have to know what to eat that wont kill you, how to start a fire, and how to find fresh water...
I learned that you could draw a triangle in the sand by using fire. You use the fire by putting it in the angles of the triangle. You do this to inform someone you need help. Or you could put S.O.S., which means the same thing as the triangle with the fire in the angles of it. Nicole Boggs
I leared that a trangle, an X, and an sos are all signs that you are in danger. In the wilderness you need to stay calm and dont panic. Panic is your biggest enemy. To keep your mind off of panic you should count, make something, or play mind games. Before you do anything you should plan and give your self small tasks.
I learned that you can survive in the wilderness if you just stay calm and think about what you're doing panic is your biggest enemy. I also learned that if you are planing to go out into the wilderness that you should bring a six inch hand mirror, matches, and a survival knife. It is also good to not eat if you get hungry because it takes water to digest your food so this will dehydrate you. I learned that you should draw a triangle or an S.O.S to let people know you need help.
In the story i learned that you shouldnt panic if you get stuck in a situation that you dont want to be in. It just makes things alot worse if you panic. If you get in a situation that you dont want to be you should make sure you have servial kit. Also a little tip if you have food and no water then dont eat because if you do then the water that is in your body will run out and you can live off you're body fat for a lot longer than you live with out water. If that happens to you then you should make a fire and singal it off that your stuck by makeing a trianl with fire, or you can use s.o.s. Also a good thing to have with you is a mirrior and lighter. The mirrior is to singal off to somebody that you are down there and the lighter would be for starting the fire. Just remin clam. *Kayle Eads*
I learned that you can always make it out in the wilderness if you need too. The reason why people think they can't is because they panic. I learned that if you get hungry it's better not to eat because when you eat your boby needs more water to digest the food that they ate. When your in the woods and don't know what to do always make a fire and make a trianlge or a s.o.s symbol to sign for help. When you are by yourself it's always good be doing something like saying your abc's or something like that! So if you panic stay calm and think postive. Things that you should bring would be a surival knife, balkets, matches, and a six inch hand mirror to single for help.
i have learned some stuff on how to stay alive in the wild. first you want to stay calm so you can think. if you get scared then you cant think and you will run off.if you here running water then follow the sound until you get there
While I wasn't here for the class discussion, I was for the story when we read it. What I learned from reading this story is that different people develop different tactics for survival when they find themselves needing to escape a dangerous situation. They would do whatever they had to to get out of it so that they can go back to their family, their pets, their life, or continue what they were doing in the first place. Developing a plan can come in handy.
I learned to survive in the wild you have to have a good head on your shoulders. If you sing a song or think of a poem it will help you from going insane. A.J. Stainbrook
By reading deep survival i learned that its best to stay calm no matter what the situation may be, to always stay positive and remember the people i want to come home to. Ive learned how to signal when i need help, i've learned when to & not to eat, how to make matches fireproof, and many other things.
